A philological study on poisoning and side effects of Gastrodiae Rhizoma(天麻)

Abstract

|
Gastrodiae Rhizoma is in use in Korean medicine. The Korean medical doctors use Gastrodiae Rhizoma for calming the liver(平肝) and relieving muscle spasm(鎭痙), etc. We investigated toxicity, poisoning symptoms, side effects, poisoning treatment and prevention against poisoning of Gastrodiae Rhizoma. The results were summarized as follows: 1.The poisoning of Gastrodiae Rhizoma is very low, but there can be hypersensitivity or toxicity reaction in the case of using Gastrodiae Rhizoma for internal use and injection. 2. There can be drug eruption in the case of using Gastrodiae Rhizoma with some western medicines. 3. In order to prevent against poisoning of Gastrodiae Rhizoma, the patients should keep usage, dosage and notes.
